For many cyclists, the ultimate bicycle starts with a high quality steel frame, using low temperature brazing and lugs to join the tubes. Lugged steel bike frames offer a road feel unlike any other design, but not all lugged steel frames are created equal.

The Wabi Special uses a fully hand-brazed frame, built by specially trained frame builders in Taiwan. The difference in the Wabi Special is that these builders are trained by one of the top hand-built frame builders from Japan.

The retro vibe of the fully lugged, Reynolds 725 frame is like nothing else you'll find - especially at this price. The workmanship (clean joints, mitering of the tubes, drop outs seamlessly integrated into the stays) is outstanding, and the resulting ride is buttery-smooth, with amazing stability.

Every Wabi is assembled to order, so you can have drop bars, riser bars, bullhorns, compact drops, all at no extra charge. Tell us what gearing you want, upgrade your wheels or tires, or let us know about anything else you've seen on a Wabi (or another bike) and we'll build your bike the way you want it.

We use Reynolds 725 and Columbus Spirit. These higher quality grades of steel allows us to use less of it, so you get a lighter, more responsive frame.

    E.D Coating

Our steel frames are E.D. coated to act as a rust preventative and a primer. This high-performance rust inhibitor is applied inside the frame and out.

Wabi frames are road-designed with upright angles, and short wheelbases, which creates comfort, efficiency, and predictable handling. Our road frame design gives you an agile and fast ride.

We love the detail of our frames. You'll find cast-brazed dropouts, machined head tubes, brazed seatpost collars, bottle cage eyelets, and brazed forks.

    Happy with Bike Not Wheels

Great company and absolutely Awesome bike Wabi Special. I have zero complaints with bike itself. But the wheels I chose, I am not happy with at all. If I would have done alittle more research I would have chose to get the regular set that come with the special with more spokes but instead I got the Sub15s. Which is not good for me. The Sub 15s are a great beautiful wheels and I highly recommend them if you are under 220 pounds. But I am 260 and have had to have them straighten/trued 2 times since having them. So for me I can't ride my bike because of that. I will have to get different wheelset before I can actually use my beautiful special. This is not Wabi's fault it's mine for not doing my research. That is why I still give Wabi a 5 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ review. They are a great bike company. Now I just need to get a wheelset with more spokes so I can ride my beautiful Wabi Special. Scott / Willie Beck

Approaching 1,500 (city miles/ or perhaps, a little more city kilometers,... to be precise)! In any event, for the moment, let us disregard the distance(s), the look and/or ride quality of my Wabi Retro;... and let us focus in on the "INTANGIBLES" ; the other experiences you will (or I) encounter? For example; (i.e.), "WHEN THE BIKE IS STANDING STILL". When people/spectators (who possess the minimal requirements) for recognizing great, machine aesthetic; ....asks you about your WABI? Now; you're making new friends! I'm a true red-blooded, New Yorker (USA), living here in Southern Spain, and as far as the biking community here goes;......My Wabi Retro (in Midnight Blue); deck-out in it's finest accouterments; transforms me into "Instant Cyclist, Celebrity Status"!!@!! end-of-message

    My Wabi Special is awesome.

It is exactly what I wanted when I started to look for a fixed gear bicycle. I'm not a fan of the Kenda 28mm tires. On these rims they measure 25 mm and I prefer a tire that is at least 28mm actual width. I already had a new pair of 28mm Continental Gran Prix 4-Season tires that I got a good deal for at $40 each. I swapped the Kenda tires for the Conti tires. They measure 28 mm actual on these rims. Also the rear wheel wasn't as true as I wanted it to be when I received it. No problem, I put it in my truing stand and had it true in just a few minutes. The other issue is the whistling sound. I'm still looking for a better fix than green frog tape.
