Description
Drop bars give you 3 hand positions: in the drops, on the hoods, and on the top. Great for long rides where its nice to mix it up. Compact bars have a shorter reach (distance from the center of the top bar to the center of the hooks/outside curve of drops) and a shorter drop (distance from the center of the top bar to the center of the end of the drops).

Notes
Handlebar sizing: Width is measured from bar end to bar end, center to center. Generally the width of the bar should allow your arms to be parallel when your hands are in the outermost position on the bar. Narrower bars allow more maneuverability in tight spaces, wider bars allow the chest to open up more for better breathing.
United StatesGreat handlebar, but beware of obscure bar diameter
This handlebar has a 26mm clamps, and I had a hard time looking for a 26mm stem amid a bike parts shortage. The local bike shop told me that 26mm is a bit archaic, and most handlebars nowadays use 25.4mm or 31.8mm clamps.

More comfortable for me with the shorter reach and less of a drop. A little bit of a shame there's no textured area where they clamp to the stem (to aid in centering and securing the bars in place) but this has not proven to be a huge issue.
