Built for the Long Road, Ready for the Streets

If you’re a road cyclist looking to make the leap to single speed or fixed gear—whether for training, an added challenge, or to try something new—the Wabi Classic is made for you. With frame geometry that’s relaxed but not slouchy, it’s perfect for long distance head-up riding while remaining aggressive enough to tuck in and give those pedals hell.

If mashing down city streets is more your style, the Wabi Classic's short wheelbase gives you a nimble ride for dodging taxis or bunny-hopping any rip-rap that gets in your way.

In Steel We Trust

At a mind-melting 5.7 pounds, the Wabi Classic is one of the lightest all-steel fixed gear frames around. And it’s all thanks to Reynolds 725 Chromoly steel. As a double-butted tubing, Reynolds 725 has thinner walls throughout its length while its critical connection points are thicker to allow for stronger welds. It’s also heat-treated for greater durability and rigidity than the more-common 4130 Chromoly steel used in lower-end framesets. TIG welded by hand, this frame is as strong as it is sleek.

Bombproof Everything

At the tail-end, you’ll find true track-style horizontal rear dropouts that can handle the extra torque generated when backpedaling to slow your roll. Go full skid-stop for extra style points. Clean threads inside the bottom bracket shell play nicely with standard square-tapered bottom brackets or external bottom bracket systems if you want an added performance edge.

Fork Yeah!

Adding to the buttery feel of the Wabi Classic, a hand-brazed tapered Chromoly steel fork leads the way, soaking up bumps and chatters like a champ. Shipped with a sealed bearing Tange Seiki Technoglide headset installed and ready to rock, expect crisp steering and handling out of the box.

All-Weather Longevity

Quite literally sealing the deal, the Wabi Classic frameset is E.D. coated inside and out acting as a rust inhibitor and primer before getting a tough powder coat in one of eight eye-catching colors. Want a really unique color? Ask about the custom powder coat jobs we offer for an additional charge.

Utilitarian Touches

With two sets of water bottle cage braze-ons, the Wabi Classic makes it easy to double up on H20 for those summer heat death marches. For our friends in wetter climates, we managed to sneak in pre-drilled fender mount holes. Plus, when designing the frame, we left plenty of room to accommodate fatter tires (up to 700Cx32mm) to match your riding style and terrain demands.

While most bike components fit the Wabi Classic, we cannot guarantee the fit of any specific component set other than what we sell with our complete bikes. If you are planning a specific build, please contact us to see if we are aware of any fit or compatibility issues. Even so, we are unable to offer refunds based on lack of fit with any third-party components.

Steel

We use Reynolds 725 and Columbus Spirit. These higher quality grades of steel allows us to use less of it, so you get a lighter, more responsive frame.

E.D Coating

Our steel frames are E.D. coated to act as a rust preventative and a primer. This high-performance rust inhibitor is applied inside the frame and out.

design

Wabi frames are road-designed with upright angles, and short wheelbases, which creates comfort, efficiency, and predictable handling. Our road frame design gives you an agile and fast ride.

Details

We love the detail of our frames. You'll find cast-brazed dropouts, machined head tubes, brazed seatpost collars, bottle cage eyelets, and brazed forks.

Everything I thought it would be

Once I got on it for the first time, which was 2 steps outside the bike shop, I was like, oh yeah. Felt super comfortable. Looking forward to using it on my daily commute.

Good frameset, 1 flaw in design that won’t be a problem for everyone

I love it, lightweight(1 lb lighter than my other 4130 frame of the same size!) I am very happy with the feel and quality of the frameset. I am going to own this bike for a long time! I’m so excited to ride it more. But, one problem I encountered was that with a Sugino 75 crankset and Sugino 75 superlap bottom bracket was that the drive side crank arm hits the chainstay, glancingly. This is a very standard track(read: fixed gear) crankset and bottom bracket, this type of design error is sad because I had to dent my chainstay to fit a very common component. The chainstay should have a dimple here to avoid this problem.

Overall excellent

Love the frame. It’s the lightest frame I currently own. However some notes: Sram Omniums with crankarm length 172.5mm scratches up against the chain stays on the non drive side. I have switched over to another direct drive crankset (miche pistard 2.0) and don’t have problems with that crankarm although it is to be noted that it is 170mm crank arm length. Shipping took a while, but in the end it was worth it.

Frame is great but I waited a while. Frame scratched/scuffed

There are 2 somewhat large scratches in the frame which is fine(kind of annoying) because it’s my commuter but I waited almost a month to get my frame after order what I thought was a frame that was available. Only after I emailed y’all you told me that it was sent to be powder coated the day I ordered it. It would have been nice to to be informed about that before or right when I ordered. Overall the frame is great, a little darker than in the picture( I got the copper finish) but it’s nice.

2018 Wabi Classic full review

The bike rides as smooth as a Cadillac. It just wants to go! It feels amazing hugging corners at speed as well as going slow and just cruising around. It has nice relaxed geometry that just feels great like classic road bike geometry. The quality of this build is awesome and built very well. This frame is excellent for short trips as well as long distance touring. I plan on using my Wabi as a single speed touring bike. It’s a very simple yet elegant design and everything just works the way it is supposed to. Not to mention Wabi has an amazing warranty policy and they will totally work with you to make sure that you are happy with your new bike or frame. I regularly ride 40-50 miles on my rides and I’m never sore after riding my Wabi. I cannot say enough positive things about this frame. I ❤️ it so much!!! Please buy with confidence knowing that you are supporting an amazing American company that has outstanding customer service and makes very high quality bikes.
